Fostering Brilliance

A message from principal Dr. Leanne Foster

UTS is a community that is passionate about learning, not just for our students but for everyone. Coming next month, we are so pleased to offer you an opportunity to learn from visionary U.S.-based educator and author Dr. Paul Gorski.

The Question of Class: A Presentation with Dr. Paul Gorski
Thursday, October 10, 2024
6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
University of Toronto Schools

The author, co-author or editor of 12 books including his most recent, Fix Injustice, Not Kids and Other Principles for Transformative Equity Leadership, Dr. Gorski is an inspiring speaker with important messages for our community.

Founder of the Equity Literacy Institute, he has worked with educators  in 48 states and 12 countries. Dr. Gorski brings 25 years of experience helping educators, nonprofit workers, and others in building deep and meaningful equity practices that put the student at the centre, which is so important to our school as we begin to implement work on our new Strategic Plan.

This event is open to the public and I am making a special invitation to all our families and guardians to join us in exploring how to create real impact and transform our school into a place where all students thrive. I am very excited about this event, and expect it will be an inspiring evening for everyone.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Important Dates

Here is a list of important dates for the 2024-25 school year.

Although every effort is made to keep to these dates, occasionally changes may be made. A Google Calendar of important school dates and closures will be shared before the start of the school year.

New Mobile Device and Laptop UTS Policy for 2024-25

In April 2024, the Ontario provincial government announced changes to restrict the use of cell phones in schools starting in the 2024-25 academic year.

In light of this, and in support of student emotional and academic wellness, the use of cell phones, smartwatches, tablets and other smart technology will be restricted at UTS. Students are expected to store their devices in their locker for the school day.  The full policy will be shared along with other school policies and your contact verification in August.

If parents need to contact their children in an emergency, they should call the Main Office  at 365.645.7609 or 365.297.5706.

Ordering Books for the 2024-25 School Year

UTS textbooks for the 2024-25 school year will be available for purchase through the U of T Bookstore starting August 19, 2024.

You will receive a link to this year’s textbook list and ordering instructions from the U of T Bookstore.

UTS students organize used textbook sales. UTS staff are not involved and we cannot answer questions related to used textbook sales. Students buying used books should ensure the texts they are purchasing are on the official U of T Bookstore book list, and so we do not recommend buying used textbooks prior to August 19, 2024.

Student Timetables and Locker Assignments

Students will receive their 2024-25 timetables and their locker assignments by email on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
