The UTS Family Handbook for the 2025-26 School Year

The Family Handbook is your go-to guide for starting the school year smoothly, with everything from how to let us know if your student is late or absent, important dates, our approach to Academics, Student Life, field trips, policies, who to contact at UTS to best help you, and more.

UTS Important Dates and Closures Information

The UTS Important Dates 2025-26 document has been updated with:

  • Dates UTS is closed

  • Dates when students have no classes

  • Special schedules

  • Late start days (students should arrive at 10 a.m. and classes will start promptly at 10:10 a.m.)

Textbooks for 2025-26

UTS textbooks for the 2025-26 school year are available on the U of T Bookstore website and in store.

All books listed will be needed for the 2025-26 school year. Only courses which have textbooks will be listed. If you do not see a course on the website, it is because the course does not have a textbook.

Books can be purchased online for delivery or pick-up. Books can also be purchased in person. Please check the U of T bookstore operational hours before you visit in person.

If you are buying used textbooks from UTS students, please make sure you are purchasing the same textbook as the texts listed on the U of T Bookstore website. UTS staff are not able to answer questions regarding student used textbook sales.

Please Do Not Use the Laneway South of the Parking Lot for Drop Off / Pick Up Under Any Circumstances

The UTS Code of Conduct refers to our responsibility as members of the UTS community, and to supporting our commitment to the University and its bylaws. The laneway must not be used for student drop off at any time.  Both residents and University of Toronto staff are increasingly frustrated by UTS parents and guardians not respecting parking laws. Any cars found stopping in the laneway are subject to being tagged or towed by the city.

For the safety of our students and community, and our good relations with the University, we ask that parents and guardians avoid dropping off/picking up students on Bloor Street, and be sure not to stop on Huron Street or Washington Street unless you are pulled up directly alongside the curb. These streets do not provide enough space to stop safely without impacting traffic.

Nearby options include Sussex Avenue to the south, or alternatives such as public transit, cycling or walking to school.

Mobile Device Use Not Permitted at School

A reminder that student cell phone use is not permitted at UTS. Cell phones are to be kept in lockers and may only be used at the end of the day for arranging transportation home or with the permission of their teacher during class activities.

Please review the Mobile Device and Laptop Use Policy for more information.

Reminder to confirm your contact information and review the UTS Core Agreements in MyUTS

Student timetables will only be released to students if this has been completed.

If you have any questions about your contact information on the form, please contact student.info@utschools.ca.

If you have technical difficulties with the form, please contact it@utschools.ca.

School Photos
New students and mentor students at Orientation Day: September 2
Rest of the school: September 16

New students and mentor students attending orientation day will have their photos taken on September 2. The rest of the school and any new students unable to attend orientation will be photographed on September 16. Please contact mainoffice@utschools.ca if you have any questions.

We understand that parents who opted into notifications from Lifetouch may be receiving automated messages about Sept 2nd as a photo day for everyone. Sept 2nd is only a photo day for students attending the new-to-UTS student orientation. We are working with Lifetouch to ensure their messaging aligns with ours, and we apologize for any confusion in the meantime. Thanks to the parents who let us know this was an issue as UTS does not receive the automated notifications.

What’s been happening at UTS recently….

As we prepare to welcome back students next week, all UTS staff took part in a full program of professional development days. This gave us the chance to sharpen our teaching and work, reflect on our school program and plan together for the year ahead. Most of all, we’re excited to put that learning into action to make sure each student feels seen, supported and inspired.
