Holocaust Remembrance Assembly

Today’s Holocaust Remembrance Assembly featured a keynote address by Holocaust survivor Andy Réti, followed by a student-led Q & A session. This year's International Holocaust Remembrance Day, observed on January 27, 2025, marked the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration and extermination camp. The purpose of today’s assembly was to reinforce the importance of remembering the Holocaust, address ongoing antisemitism, and promoting pluralism. Students were asked to reflect further and discuss two questions. We hope that these conversations may continue at home.

  • In what ways does antisemitism continue to appear in Canadian society?

  • How can we work together to resist intolerance and hatred in our community?

Panorama Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Survey
Tuesday, February 11

During period 2 on February 11, students will be invited to complete the 2025 Panorama Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Survey. Students who do not have class during period 2 are asked to complete the survey in the Evans Library or in the Lang Innovation Lab. Students on spare will be sent an email so that they know where to go for attendance and to complete the survey.

This voluntary equity and inclusion climate survey is designed to give UTS a sense of how students are feeling, relative to equity and inclusion in the school community. Results of this survey will help inform decisions, and future learning for staff and students related to making UTS an even more inclusive space.

This online survey is developed by Panorama Education. Panorama Education has partnered with the Harvard Graduate School of Education to develop validated survey tools and works with schools and school districts across North America, as well as globally.

Please let Nasreen Khan (nasreen.khan@utschools.ca) know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you in advance for your support as we continue to work to make UTS an even more inclusive space.
