Important Updates to Trip Registration and Payment Processes

UTS is introducing improvements to our activity registration and billing processes to make them more convenient for families and to ensure clearer communication of costs. These updates will also strengthen the school’s ability to plan and budget accurately for school activities, while providing families with clear and timely information.

1.  Activity Consent and Registrations

  • Consent forms for activity registrations will soon be issued and signed in MyUTS

  • Parents and guardians will receive an email notification whenever a new activity or trip consent form is awaiting review in MyUTS.

  • Parents and guardians will need to log in to MyUTS to complete the consent form.

  • As part of consenting and registering for activities, families will be asked to agree to any associated charges applied to their billing account.

2. Registration Deadlines

  • Deadlines are firm. Late registrations can no longer be accommodated.

  • Timely registration allows the school to plan activities and trips efficiently, secure necessary travel and accommodation, and ensure costs remain fair for all participants.

3. Cancellation Deadlines

  • Activity and trip cancellation deadlines are firm. Fees are non-refundable once participation is confirmed.

  • This reflects the upfront costs the school incurs for travel, accommodation and registration fees, which cannot be recovered if a student withdraws.

  • If the school initiates a cancellation an activity or trip, the fees will be refunded.

4. Billing Account System

  • As we shared in the September 4 UTS Updates, UTS is moving to the Blackbaud billing management system for all financial transactions between families and the school. The billing portal will be a separate login from MyUTS portal.

  • Each family will have a billing account where all charges will be recorded for activities they have registered for.

  • Families are responsible for ensuring prompt and timely payment on the account through the billing portal.

  • Any incidental charges incurred to date will be reflected in the billing account.

More information about accessing the billing portal will follow in the coming weeks.

Please note:

  • All required curricular and co-curricular activities remain fully covered by tuition.

  • Optional enrichment activities, such as competitions, international trips and athletic competitions (e.g. OFSAA) will continue to be billed at cost.

  • Bursary support for trips and activities remains available to families who qualify.

We recognize that this is a change from our existing processes, and we appreciate your understanding as we implement these changes. These adjustments allow us to plan student activities with greater ease and efficiency for UTS families while supporting the financial sustainability of the school.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

What’s been happening at UTS recently….

Mid-Autumn Festival celebration with our Mandarin students

Our Mandarin students celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival through creativity, culture and connection. In class, they crafted beautiful mooncakes and designed tranquil, nature-inspired “moonlight” scenes using thoughtful props, lighting and plants, reflecting the calm elegance of traditional Zen aesthetics.

Students also explored the art of Chinese calligraphy, practicing from the 峄山碑》(an ancient Qin Dynasty inscription over 2,000 years old) writing the character “远方” (yuǎn fāng, “afar”) to express their longing for loved ones who are far away during this time of reunion.

S6 (grade 12) Amos shared a touching line:

“但愿人长久,千里共婵娟,” — “May we live long and share the beauty of the moon together, even if we are a thousand miles apart.”

Celebrating Diwali at assembly

Our school community came together for a special assembly in celebration of Diwali, the Festival of Lights. The event featured outstanding student musical and dance performances, as well as thoughtful presentations that highlighted the meaning and traditions of this important festival.

The celebration was a wonderful opportunity to deepen our understanding and appreciation of the many cultures represented within our community. We are proud to share in these moments that bring us together in learning, joy and connection.

Painting with French Club

The French Club brought the joie de vivre of the French countryside to school this week, complete with soft melodies, Monet-inspired visuals and a dreamy watercolour activity that had everyone finding their inner artiste!

From brushstrokes to bon mots, students painted, chatted and learned their way through a truly magnifique lunch break of art and French culture.

Un grand merci to everyone who joined!

Whooo’s got the spirit? Hoodini, that’s who!

Coach Ki announced today the results of the Name the Mascot survey and we’re thrilled to officially welcome our newest feathered friend, Hoodini the Owl, to the UTS community!

With wisdom, heart and a hoot of enthusiasm, Hoodini embodies everything that makes UTS soar. Whether cheering at games, spreading encouragement in the halls or helping us find the fun in every challenge, this owl’s got true talon-t.

Because when it comes to school spirit... Hoodini’s got it, and we owl do too!

Club-o-Rama

One of the biggest co-curricular events of the year took place this week with around 80 clubs, committees, publications and other co-curricular groups setting up tables and displays to share the incredible selection of opportunities students have to explore their interests, deepen their learning and make connections with each other.
