Late Start Next Week on Wednesday, October 23

Classes start at 10:10 a.m. on Late Start days. Students should not arrive at school before 10 a.m.

Fire and Lockdown Drills

This school year, we plan to have six Fire Drills, in compliance with Fire Code regulations, and two Lockdown Drills.

Due to inclement weather, we rescheduled the September Fire Drill to take place next week.

Students in classes should follow the directions of their teachers. Students on spares should exit the building at the nearest exit and meet Mr. Hayto outside on the parkette.

Please emphasize to your child that it is important to follow their teacher’s instructions. They should also ensure they know the evacuation route out of the building from each class, which is posted next to the door to the classrooms. Students are required to stay with their class outside on the UTS parkette until the all clear is given.

UTS Halloween Costume Guidelines

Halloween is a time for celebration, and we want all students to enjoy this festive occasion! To ensure a positive experience for everyone, please ensure students adhere to the following guidelines when selecting their costume for school.

Students are prohibited from dressing in costumes that:

  • Depict traditional attire associated with any ethnic, racial or cultural identity.

  • Promote or depict stereotypes of any group's ethnic, racial, gender, sexual or cultural identity.

  • Mock the identity of any ethnic, racial, gender, sexual or cultural group.

  • Involve altering one's skin color to represent another racial, ethnic or cultural group.

  • Feature religious or spiritual symbols.

  • Include replica weapons of any kind.

  • Wear full face masks or coverings that obscure the entire face as part of a costume.

Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a respectful environment.

Let’s make Halloween fun for everyone!

M3 Take Our Kids To Work Day

M3 Take Our Kids to Work Day is on November 6. The program is geared to Grade 9 students across Canada.

UTS does not have a formal program, but we support families to participate in any available opportunities. M3 teachers will avoid scheduling assessments on that day.

If your child will be absent for a Take Our Kids to Work Day activity, please email mainoffice@utschools.ca or call 365-297-5706 or 365-645-7609.

Additionally, if a group of students wishes to participate in an activity at another parent/guardian's workplace (as some organizations offer comprehensive programs for the day), please ensure you email email mainoffice@utschools.ca or call 365-297-5706 or 365-645-7609, regardless of whether they are attending your workplace or someone else's.

For students not participating in Take Our Kids to Work Day, regular M3 classes will proceed as usual.

Please note that November 6 is also our Remembrance Day Assembly, as there are a half-day of online classes on November 7, followed by Parent-Teacher Interviews in the afternoon and evening of November 7 and all day November 8 on mid-term break on November 11, 2024. While we encourage attendance at the Remembrance Day activities, we support students who are participating in a Take Our Kids to Work Day.

Thank you for your cooperation!
