UTS Important Dates and Closures Information for 2025-26

UTS Important Dates and Closures 2025-26 is a document that summarizes the list of 2025-26 dates when UTS is closed, when students have no classes or when there is a special schedule, such as a student late start day, when students should plan to be at school later than on regular school days. This document includes updates to the Preliminary UTS Important Dates and Closures shared with families in April.

Textbooks for 2025-26
Available starting Monday, August 19 at 10 a.m.

The U of T Bookstore website for buying UTS textbooks will be available starting Monday, August 19 at 10 a.m.

Visit the U of T Bookstore

All books listed will be needed for the 2025-26 school year. Only courses which have textbooks will be listed. If you do not see a course on the website, it is because the course does not have a textbook.

Books can be purchased online for delivery or pick-up. Books can also be purchased in person. Please check the U of T Bookstore opening hours before you visit in person.

If you are buying used textbooks from UTS students, please make sure you are purchasing the same textbook as the texts listed on the U of T Bookstore website. UTS staff are not able to answer questions regarding student used textbook sales.

Mobile Device Use Not Permitted at School

A reminder that student cell phone use is not permitted at UTS. Cell phones are to be kept in lockers and may only be used at the end of the day for arranging transportation home or with the permission of their teacher during class activities.

Please review the Mobile Device and Laptop Use Policy for more information.

Exciting Opportunity: Will You Be a Host Family?
Registration deadline: Friday, August 15
Homestay dates: Tuesday, September 30 to Monday, October 6

Welcoming Danish students to UTS last fall.

Registration is open for current M3 to S5 families to host a visiting Danish student as part of our Global Citizenship Program. This long-standing program has had tremendously positive impacts for students and families on both sides of the Atlantic!

Our families are what make our international partnerships possible. Our guests will be participating in a number of activities at school during their stay, including the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation assembly, a drama workshop and performance, and visits to Canadian and World Studies classrooms.

Contact Richard Cook  at racook@utschools.ca with any questions.

Save the Date for Curriculum Night
September 16

Curriculum Night, where families can learn what teachers have planned for the year in their child’s courses, is scheduled for the evening of September 16.

U.S. Travel Update

After thoughtful consideration and consultation with several other CAIS-accredited schools, UTS has decided to pause grade trips to the U.S. for the 2025-26 school year. This decision reflects our commitment to the well-being of students and staff, in light of increased concerns about the possibility of negative experiences while travelling.

That said, we recognize the value of U.S.-based competitions and will continue to support student participation in these opportunities on a case-by-case basis. Whenever travel to the U.S. is approved, we will implement enhanced safety protocols and provide comprehensive preparation to support all participants.

Planning is well underway for meaningful grade trips within Canada for M4 students and to the U.K. for S6 students. M4 families have received an email to register for the Montreal trip planned for October 15 to 17.  We look forward to sharing more details about the S6 trip as plans develop.

If you have any questions, please contact Garry Kollins, Vice Principal of Student Life at gkollins@utschools.ca

School Lunch Survey

We are reaching out to gather valuable feedback about our two school lunch providers.

We would like to hear from ALL parents ‒ whether you regularly order school lunches from either provider, occasionally use the service, pack lunches from home, have your children buy lunch at a neighbourhood establishment or have never used our lunch providers. Your perspective is important to us and your honest feedback will directly influence how we work with our providers to enhance the lunch experience for all students.

This is a brief, confidential survey that will be shared with our lunch providers to help guide improvements for the upcoming academic school year.

The survey will remain open until August 15. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.

What’s been happening at UTS recently….

Summer camps at UTS are wrapping up this week with Bright Lights in the Lab, run in partnership with the Firefly Foundation, where participants are using AI to explore neuroscience.

Working with community partners, we are also running three outreach camps for Black and Indigenous students — Apollo Adventures, Story Jam and Mini Model United Nations. Our partners include: U of T Equity and Outreach, U of T Indigenous Education Network, the African Canadian Christian Network and Leadership by Design.

100 Strong Foundation returned to UTS again this summer with 100 Strong Academy, a summer program designed to mobilize and equip young Black boys with the tools necessary to achieve their maximum potential in education and build on life skills. The program wraps up today with their graduation ceremony in the Withrow Auditorium.

Our M4/Grade 10 Computer Technology Course is taking place in the Lang Innovation Lab.

The next update will be on August 14, 2025.

Thank you and enjoy the summer!
